DIM CHUKWUEMEKA ODUMEGWU OJUKWU MEMORIAL LECTURE: "OJUKWU, A MAN WHO CAME, SAW, AND CONQUERED"- SOLUDO

At the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, venue of the annual memorial lecture in honor of the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Eze Igbo Gburugburu), Anambra State Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, representing the state Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo (CFR), described Ojukwu as a father figure who left an indelible mark on Igbo history.
Dr. Ibezim emphasized that Ojukwu's legacies will forever be remembered as a great Igbo leader. Stressing that the dreams of ndi Igbo can be achieved through collective effort.
In recognising other true igbo Icons from the state, the Deputy Governor acknowledged Chinua Achebe, Chike Obi, Chimamanda Adichie, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Prof. Soludo amongst others stated that they have contributed significantly in positioning Anambra State on the global map.
In his Keynote address, Chief Osita Chidoka, former Aviation Minister and former FRSC boss, highlights the transformative power of education. He noted that Igbo lands have undergone significant development due to education stressing that no society will thrive successfully which has on elites.
The guest of honor, and former Minister of InformationHon. Hon.Labaran Maku in his contribution,praised late Ojukwu as one of Nigeria's greatest leaders, who contributed immensely to the Igbo land's development. Maku advocated for dialogue between the federal government and southeasterners, urging for the possible release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Other speakers, including Prof. Greg Nwakobi immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University and Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha the acting Vice Chancellor of the University, expressed delight and appreciation for the lecture and expressed optimism of greater heights of the School within shortest time.
The event featured the Deputy Governor's commissioning of the university's entrance gate, commissioning of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences building equipped and donated by the traditional ruler of Ogidi community, Igwe Pharm. Alex Onyido and documentary display on the vision of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, cutting of the cake and group photographs. .
Anambra State Commissioner of Education Prof. Ngozi Chuma Udeh, Chief Medical Director COOUTH Dr. Josephat Asike, and other top government functionaries were in attendance to witness this annual lecture in memory of a great Igbo leader, Ilate Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (kemba Nnewi, Eze Igbo gburu gburu).
