It was a moment of jubilation and renewed political zeal as the campaign train of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) stormed D.O. Field, Amawbia, for the Awka South Local Government Area rally.
The event held special significance, as Awka South is the home local government of Anambra State's Deputy Governor, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim  who is also the running mate to the Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, in the forthcoming 2025 gubernatorial election.

Addressing the crowd and the press, the Deputy Governor highlighted few of the achievements of the Soludo-led administration in the local government, citing the construction of high-quality roads, youth empowerment programmes, and the  transformation of Awka from a glorified local government into a world-class capital city. He also referenced landmark projects like the new Government House (Light House) and the Solution Fun City, describing them as world-class attractions.

“Prof. Soludo is a divine gift to Anambra State,” Ibezim declared. “I will continue to support  and work with him, even more passionately, to deliver a stronger and better state.”

In her remarks, the President-General of a local women’s group, Dr. Ebere Okafor, applauded the administration’s developmental strides and urged women across the state to demonstrate their appreciation by voting for Governor Soludo’s re-election.

The rally was rich in cultural displays, with masquerade performances, traditional dancers, and various support groups adding color to the event. Notably, traditional rulers, as well as members of the Hausa and Arewa communities, attended in large numbers, expressing their satisfaction with the present administration's  performance.

Among the dignitaries present were the Governor’s wife, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo; the Deputy Governor’s wife, Lady Oluchi Ibezim; former APGA National Chairman, Chief Sir  Victor Oye ; and numerous other public officials.
While receiving the cheques of over 103.5 million naira from the local government stake holders, traditional medicine practitioners and the students, Governor Soludo used the occasion to assure the people of Anambra of his unshaking commitment to delivering quality governance. He called on the electorate to sustain the momentum by returning the APGA ticket to office on November 8, 2025.
