ANAMBRA STATE BOUNDARY COMMITTEE MEETS, PLEDGES GREATER IMPACT TOWARD A LIVEABLE AND PROSPEROUS HOMELAND

The Anambra State Boundary Committee held its quarterly meeting on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at the Lighthouse, Awka, with renewed commitment to resolving boundary-related issues and promoting peaceful coexistence among communities.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, who also serves as the Chairman of SBC In his opening remarks, praised the committee’s progress, noting that its effectiveness has prompted several communities to request demarcations, boundary monumentation, and conflict resolution interventions.

He emphasized that the Soludo-led administration has instituted a robust governance structure capable of serving the state effectively for years to come.

In his address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Boundary Matters, Office of the Deputy Governor, Hon. Ekenechukwu Okoye, reiterated that the primary goal of the committee is to foster peaceful coexistence among neighboring communities and states. He affirmed that the committee remains committed to its mandate until Governor Soludo’s vision of a liveable and prosperous Anambra is fully realized.

In their various contributions, Mr. Austin Saleh Amtagu, Deputy Director of Operations, DSS Anambra Command (representing the State Director), Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor and Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Ofornze Amucheazi SAN, commended the Deputy Governor’s leadership in the committee. They highlighted the importance of mediation in resolving boundary disputes amongst communities and acknowledged the committee’s growing impact in settling inter-community conflicts.
Some  highlights of the meeting was the agreement reached between the Ikem-Ifite and Aguleri communities to allow the State Boundary Committee to demarcate and officially establish their boundaries.

Other notable moments included the traditional breaking of kolanut by HRM Igwe P.N. Ezeamama, traditional ruler of Enugu-Umuonyia, and a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. E.C. Okonkwo, Deputy Director of Operations, Nigeria Immigration Service, Anambra State Command.
