NATIONAL LIBRARY CHIEF SEEKS  COLLABORATION WITH ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH  NATIONAL LIBRARY IN THE STATE. 

In a bid to strengthen the nation's cultural heritage and educational resources, the CEO National library of Nigeria and, the National Librarian, Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi today, the 28th day of June 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Anambra State Charles Chukwuma Soludo  CFR whose Deputy Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim  stood in for during the meeting. 
In his introductory remarks, the Commissioner for Information Anambra State Sir. Paul Nwosu explained that the visit was to discuss the possibility of establishing a new national library within the state, highlighting the vital role such institutions play in preserving cultural heritage, promoting education, and supporting research and innovation.

In her speech Chief Librarian Prof. Anunobi,  emphasized the importance of having national libraries in the state according to her it is an agent of positive change for any country's development. She stressed that these institutions serve as custodians of a nation's intellectual and cultural wealth, providing valuable resources for scholars, researchers, and the general public.
Responding, the Deputy Governor Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim,  expressed support for the initiative, acknowledged the impacts a national library could have on the state's educational landscape. He stressed its potentials to attract visitors and researchers from across the country. Expressed delight over the initiative while encouraging the Anambra born library CEO.

The meeting which came into conclusion with a mutual quest to explore the feasibility of establishing the new national library in Anambra, a move that is expected to contribute to the state's cultural and intellectual growth.

Sir. Paul Nwosu, the Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, Barr. Chinedu Ike, Permanent Secretary of the state's Ministry of Information, Mr. Uchegbu Peter the asst. Chief quantity surveyor national library and Mrs. Obalum Obioma acting director, Anambra State library were amongst  those present during this visit.
