SOLUDO MOURNS WITH UMUNYA COMMUNITY AS IGWE ONYEKWELUJE MARKS LAST OFALA.
At St. James Anglican Church Umunya in Oyi local government is the funeral service of the late traditional ruler of Umunya community HRM Igwe Sir Dr. Chinedum Ifemenam Kris Onyekweluje (Nya 1 of Umunya) who reigned for 25 years on the throne departed at the age of 65 years.
In his funeral service, the Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo (CFR) whose Deputy Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim stood in for, described the moment as emotional, encouraged the Onyekwuluje family and the people of umunya to take solace in God, pride on the legacies of late Igwe Onyekweluje stating that the traditional ruler worked for God and humanity during his time.
The Deputy Governor emphasised the need for individuals and communities to key into the community private partnership programme of the present administration, stating it is another avenue for attracting aboundant government projects in Anambra communities.
In his sermon the Anglican Bishop on the Niger His Lordship Rev'd Owen Nwokolo extolled the benefits of love stressing that it is more beneficial to love one's enemies and the undervalued in the society because there is greater reward towards such act before God.
Tributes from the family, Sir Dr.Emeka Offor and others were read during the service and amongst those that attended is the widow and children of the late monarch, the Chairman United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiorah Okonkwo. Sen Ben Ndi-Obi. Sen Uche Ekwunife. Members of the council of knights amongst other various groups.
