ANAMBRA DEPUTY GOVERNOR MEETS WITH AGULERI COMMUNITIES OVER BOUNDARY DISPUTE 

As Communities Express Concern Over Insecurity, Call for Government Intervention
Consequent upon boundary dispute and the insecurities emanating from it,the Deputy Governor of Anambra State and Chairman, Anambra State Boundary Committee. Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, moments ago held a meeting with representatives of Enugwu-Otu Aguleri, Ezi-Agulu Aguleri, and Mkpunando Aguleri communities, at the Deputy Governor's conference hall, Government House, Awka.

The meeting addressed the ongoing boundary dispute between the trio communities and the Ibaje community in Kogi State and the Iga community in Enugu State. The representatives of communities during the meeting expressed discomfort over the increasing possibility of insecurity in the area due to the dispute and called on the government for their immediate  intervention.

In his response, the Deputy Governor and state chairman, boundary committee Dr.Onyekachukwu Ibezim commended the communities for not taking the law into their hands. 

Dr. Ibezim promised that the state government would advance efforts to ensure the protection of life and property in the affected areas and assured that the state boundary committee would expedite engagements with the National Boundary Commission to facilitate the speedy demarcation of the boundary lines at the tripartite point of Anambra, Kogi, and Enugu States.

Some government officials that were present during the meeting include, Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka; Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi. Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Boundary, Hon. Ekenenchukwu Okoye. Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Engr. Dr. Florence Idigo.  Others include HRH Igwe Emmanuel Ejiofor of Enugwu-Otu, HRH Igwe Lawrence Ochiagha of Ezi-Agulu Otu, HM Eze Dr. C. Eji, and HRH Igwe J.O Mbanefo of Mkpunando, amongst other notable personalities from the communities.

The collaborative efforts between the Anambra State Government and the affected communities signal a positive step toward fostering peace, security, and harmony among all parties involved in this boundary dispute. With a renewed focus on dialogue and cooperation. For stakeholders are very optimistic about mutually acceptable solutions to be reached in order to avert any potential conflict and ensure the well-being of residents in the region.
